Strategies

Case Study #1
A Division I basketball program in the Southeast was getting beat-up in the recruiting wars with their regional rivals, and called SFC to come to their campus and work with their coaches.  We focused on developing a unique message for their program that differentiated them from their competition.  We changed their mail and e-mail focus, and developed a better strategy for their coaching staff when it came to covering their assigned recruiting responsibilities.  The result?  As of December 2007, the staff had received verbal commitments from three 2009 stars, stealing one of them away from their conference rival. "We reviewed their situations and made small changes in their approach," says SFC President, Dan Tudor.  "The results were anything but small, however."

Case Study #2
A D3 coach in the East was struggling with keeping up with consistent and compelling e-mail messages for his recruits.  He was also having a problem keeping his two part-time assistant coaches on task and focused on their assigned responsibilities.  SFC did a detailed assessment of the program, worked with one of our recommended technology providers, and gave the coach and his staff a better organizational plan and the ability to send out memorable, graphic-rich e-mails.  The results?  A 60% increase in e-mail replies and a happier staff that feels like they are now in control of the recruiting process.

Case Study #3
A D2 football staff was using the same recruiting letters and messages that they did when the head coach had arrived at the school six years prior to our visit.  We did a detailed survey of their current athletes, taught the coaching staff several new techniques and principles that we've seen work with other programs that fit their profile, and eliminated one major aspect of their previous approach (it was wasting too much time and yielding very low results).  After two days, we saw a dramatic change: Their outbound phone calls took on new meaning, they started asking the right questions for their program, and used two other unique strategies we taught them.  The results?  Heading into signing day, the coach reported that they had received 7 more verbal commitments than they did the year before, and recruited two "difference makers" that he thought would opt for a larger, more "prestigious" program.  They've already scheduled a follow-up training session for their coaches with SFC in the Spring.
